“You’re a woman who is comfortable in her own sexuality. That necessarily means you must be labeled, categorized and filed away for everyone’s safety.”

Rebecca “Bex” Foxworth likes that description of herself. It makes her sound strong, dangerous, and powerful—like she’s standing against some grand injustice by using her body as she sees fit. That’s how her friend Claire Howard sees her and if Claire has taught her anything, it’s that labels are defined by the people who wear them, and not the other way around.

But SLUT is more than a label to Bex it’s her armor. It protects her from ever having to share her true self. The loop in her head tells her she’s innately flawed and wholly unworthy. Why else would her parents insist she go under the knife for a new nose, a new body, and plastic perfection?

That’s something Thornton Henry Edgeleaf would never understand. Thornton is perfect, in every way—handsome, worldly, passionate—with just one unforgivable flaw he’s utterly sincere. It makes Bex want to run screaming, back into the familiar, indifferent arms of men who won’t fail to dismiss and mistreat her. But nothing’s as easy as it used to be…

Slut Labels Book 2 edition by Sara Wylde Literature Fiction eBooks

'Bex' has never felt good enough. Her mom committed suicide, and her dad sent her to fat camp and paid for weight reduction surgery, besides 'surprising' her with a nose job. Hiding behind the label of 'slut', Bex lives for the 'chase' and rewards each guy for wanting her, by sleeping with them, even though she feels no pleasure in the act. It's easier that way. No expectations or worrying about a broken heart. She trusts few people so, when her only 'real' friend, Ryan, introduces her to Claire, she's surprised that she feels an instant connection with her. Bex impulsively invites Claire to move in to her penthouse and soon, they become great friends. Never having many 'real' girlfriends before, Bex embraces how strong Claire and her friends are, and lets them teach her that there's much more to her than the labels she's been stuck with.

Sara Wylde definitely has a way with words and knows how to dig deep into a character's psyche. Readers will see a bit of themselves in each of her characters and, hopefully learn along with them. We all have our demons and we all label people, even ourselves. Learning not to live by those labels is the hardest battle.

Slut Labels Book 2 edition by Sara Wylde Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This book was just as good as the first book. This labels series is about empowering women and it's hard to read these books without wanting to love yourself a little more. Most books written for women are about the girl meeting the right guy. These books are about a women finding herself and learning to truly love herself even if society rejects her and her choices.

I feel like the author is really speaking from her heart with this book series and I hope she continues to write more.

The characters are very likeable and very real to me.

I also enjoyed the fact that we got to hear more about Claire and what was going on with her.
This book along with Fat was one of the most emotional books I've ever read. For me at least. I felt every emotion that the characters felt. I cried more reading these two books than I ever have. I wish they were longer. I wish they had told us everything that happens in their future. I simply loved this book and Fat. I can't wait to read more from this author. She is now one of my favorites!! Loved everything about this book!!!!
You know you’re reading a great book if you wake up in the middle of the night to finish the story.
Sexy Bexy or Rebecca is hiding her real feelings through sex. During the story she pulls open the layers and deals with them. I loved that I felt her emotional scars but also her healing. Her character was real and her reactions felt real. The humor lifted the mood on some real serious emotional times but worked really well.
I loved the secondary characters and warmed up to her father. Thornton was hot and almost perfect; Ryan and Rosa are awesome friends. I hope the next book is about one of them.
Now I have to read the first book in this series because this story was that good.
This is a must read series for anyone with an internal dialogue loop that makes you feel less than worthy. In the second book, Slut, we watch Rebecca struggle with finding her place in the world as well as her value. As someone who enjoys sex, Sexy Bexy doesn't seem to mind the slut label. She rather owns the label and uses sex as a weapon and a way to not feel emotions. When confronted with someone she might actually have feelings for her whole world and view shifts. Rebecca has a plethora of issues to work thru and Saranna does a great job dealing with these. I loved the continuation of characters between Fat and Slut. I feel vested in these characters lives and want to know what happens to them next. Labels are not easy to break away from and we all have them, whether self or society imposed. This series details how important it is to love yourself and accept the skin you are in. If you feel great about yourself society can shove those labels where the sun don't shine!!
I've just finished reading Slut -- for the third time. The first read through may rip you open, but the second will help you find the way to heal, or, at least, begin to heal. And then you'll just want to reread it for the pleasure. Saranna has a knack for finding all those deep rooted spots that all of us share in one way or another, and forcing them to the surface to be dealt with; no matter how painful. But in the long run, dealing is always better than festering. With Saranna's Labels series, we can all learn to reexamine our own lives and learn (or try) to love ourselves. We may not be in the exact same situations as her characters, but I think the lessons are universal.

If you've read Fat (Labels Book 1), you'll know what I am talking about. Whether you are fat, were fat, or simply uncomfortable with your body shape, size, looks, for any reason, Fat touched you. Or at least, it should have. Through Claire, we learned that no matter how we physically view ourselves, no matter how other people view our physicality, it is how we see ourselves that truly counts; and that even if we have a deeply held negative view of ourselves, we can still find the path to loving ourselves.
Slut (Labels Book 2) reaches inside to force out a different kind of preconception. This is one of sheer physicality; sexuality, sexiness, prowess.

Saranna's Label books remind me of an incredible and moving speech made by Barbra Streisand in 1992. She presented a list of points that was true then and is true now the difference in how we view men and women when they are doing the exact same thing.

" A man is commanding – a woman is demanding. A man is forceful – a woman is pushy."

When it comes to sex, it is no different. A man who sleeps around is a stud; a woman is a slut. Why the double-standard?

In Slut, we get to know Sexy Bexy (Rebecca) and join her as, like Claire, she learns to love herself, but Bex is on a much different journey. She has spent her life receiving affirmation - but really nothing else - from the hunt and chase of a new sexual partner; but once they're in bed, she's detached. She hides everything behind the physicality of sex.

Bex claims the label of Slut; she defines herself by it (the label doesn't define her); but as we get to know her, we learn that, like all of us, the face she shows the world isn't necessarily the face she sees in the mirror.

Then comes Thornton Henry Edgeleaf, who stirs up thoughts and emotions that Bex doesn't want to deal with; yet . . . there's something about Thornton. Can she get in touch enough with herself to be in a committed relationship? And can she want that true connection enough to see it through?

Slut also allows us insight into other sides of characters we already know, like Gavin, showing us just how complex people can really be. It adds to the depth of this wonderful, not-to-be-missed book.
