I love Civil War fictional books. This book is part of a trilogy but stands alone with explanations when referring to one of the others. Very relaxing afternoon read. I like "suspense" but don't like being scared. this fits the bill. I like romance but don't like to picture deep graphics. This fit the bill. I would recommend this book to others. I plan to read more by Hope Denney as they are published.Product details

This is the second book in this series that I have read. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters. I appreciate the fact that there is no bad language. I am looking forward to reading the third one in the series.

This book was very intriguing and kept interest high. I hAve enjoyed both book one and this book ....book 2 and am looking forward to the lAst in the series book 3.
I'm completely addicted to Hope Denney's Somerset Manor series. I'm a huge Southern history buff . I love anything related to the Civil War and the antebellum days . I read many books on Southern historical fiction in this series is one of the best by far . I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series .
This time period is my favorite. And when written with historical relevance, I enjoy them even more. Ms. Denney did good with this story. I don't know if there is a 3rd book expected in this series. The story ended okay without the need for one but usually I have more questions than answers in a series and look forward to more. The problem with this storyline is as much as I know Eric is dead, I still wish for his return. The author made him too much a hero to lose him at the beginning of book one.
I just finished the 3rd book in this series. I will say it kept my attention. The characters were well developed. But, at the end, I was so surprised at what happened to one of the best ladies in the 3rd book. I knew things were brewing among her and her husband, but never thought it would come to what it did. I did realize he held something against her that could have gotten them both in trouble. Then he was going to blackmail her with it in order to get what he wanted. I sort of felt like I was there, and could feel her hurt. I can't wait until the 4th book comes out. I recommend this series of books to anyone who loves a great story, romance, excitement,and just good entertainment.
Not reading the first book put meat a disadvantage.I didn't know the characters and it seemed there was so many and the same name so. It was confusing. I stuck with it to.the end. I just can't say if I really like the book.
